NFL London 2011

NFL slate on Tuesday; London game set
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6384774

The NFL announced Monday that the Chicago Bears will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London this season. The game will be in Wembley Stadium on Oct. 23. If the labor problems last until Aug. 1, the game will be re-scheduled for Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

I am a little disappointed we have to settle for the Bucs again so soon but at least it should be a more competitive game than 2 years ago. I am sure I will be there on the "remembrance tour" of 2011 in honor of Calvin!

What I wonder is how long before we see a place like London get it's own franchise.

The way that has gone for LA I would not be surprised if it did!  They might have  team in Japan before LA! ;)

Will that be the " Tokyo Tsunamis"? I still think we are quite a few years away from a Europe-based team. I am excited to hear where a 2nd game might be held....

The tickets to this years game arrived yesterday  8)

Would they put London in the NFC West? (Remember that Carolina once was!)

I doubt a London-based team would be placed in the West. Although Carolina was a West team it is still another 6-hour time diff.!!

Frankfurt, Germany has been mentioned as a possible location for a 2nd game. I could see that happening.....

NFL wants two London games
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7080597/roger-goodell-says-nfl-hopes-2nd-game-london

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is interested in adding a second regular-season game in London and says the move will be discussed at the owners meetings this week.

"It's been tremendously successful," Goodell said before the Buffalo Bills' game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. "Fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, and we want to build on that."

The commissioner said the league was happy with the game it played in Mexico City in 2005 -- the first regular-season game outside the United States -- but noted the NFL is focusing on adding a regular-season game in England.

NFL games in Britain OK'd through '16
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7089240/nfl-owners-ok-games-britain-2016

HOUSTON -- The NFL will play regular-season games in Britain through 2016.

Team owners approved a resolution Tuesday at their fall meetings, with the number of games per year potentially increasing. No venues, dates or teams have been decided, but commissioner Roger Goodell said there could be more than one game there next season.

Love the decision but the prospect of having teams with low home attendance - Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Raiders and Chargers - does not appeal so much  :-\

I only told him he should be prepared for a request for time off  ;)  I don't want to jinx the team by celebrating prematurely.....

Are you coming to London this year, Hojer?
